Maybe you saw (and heard) the James Blake-Pam Shriver argument earlier today (see video below). Blake, who lost in straight sets and says retirement is a possibility if his knee doesn't heal, should have blocked out Shriver's courtside remarks. But I feel for a guy who isn't even half the player he used to be and thinks his career might be coming to an end. Must be tough to perform when you hear a voice you know criticizing you from the stands.
When he first hears Shriver, Blake says: "It's amazing you played tennis because I can still hear you." After Shriver relays the exchange, he says, "You wanna be an ass about it and act like I'm at fault?"
I'm calling this one a draw. Poor choice of words by Blake, but he shouldn't be blamed for making himself clear. Neither should Shriver, and the chances are she didn't know her voice could be heard on the court.
