Fourth-seeded Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia advanced to the quarterfinals when Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan retired after losing the first set 7-6 (4). Fifth-seeded Polona Hercog of Slovakia also advanced, beating Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain 6-3, 7-5.
