KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP)—Fifth-seeded Petra Martic of Croatia and Hsieh Su-Wei of Taiwan dodged the downpours of rain to advance to the quarterfinals of the Malaysian Open on Wednesday.
Matches have been repeatedly interrupted this week amid persistent downpours at Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort.
Martic bounced back from losing the second set to beat Kurumi Nara of Japan 6-2, 3-6, 6-0. Hsieh kept up her fine run in the competition by beating Casey Dellacqua of Australia 6-1, 7-5.
