MUNICH (AP) Florian Mayer defeated friend and fellow German Philipp Petzschner 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday to reach the final of the BMW Open.
Mayer will be seeking his first ATP Tour title and hoping to become the first German to win the BMW Open since Philip Kohlschreiber in 2007. He is the highest-ranked German player at No. 35 and advanced to his first final of the year.
Mayer's opponent in the final will be either Nikolay Davydenko or Radek Stepanek.
