Ryan Harrison has parted ways with coach Scott McCain, TENNIS.com has learned. The 19-year-old hired McCain in May and shared the former UC Berkeley men’s tennis coach with India’s Somdev Devvarman. McCain has also coached a slew of lesser-known American players such as Paul Goldstein.?

Harrison is expected to name a new coach very soon. One of the names in the mix is Grant Doyle, who once coached Sam Querrey.

Considered one of the United States' brightest young prospects, Harrison finished 2011 with a career-high, year-end ranking of No. 79, but only had a 14-19 record on the ATP Tour. He did score a win over No. 37 Milos Raonic at Indian Wells, qualified for Roland Garros and Wimbledon and reached the semifinals of Atlanta and Los Angeles.

Harrison successfully worked with USTA coaches in 2010, and also spent a short time being coached by the Nick Bollettieri Academy’s Martin Damn.

"Scott’s helped me tremendously and I have been played competitive matches since he’s been with me," Harrison in late May. "Hitting wise my game is going to where I want it to and Scott can get me there. I couldn’t have more respect for his knowledge of the game."

On Thursday, U.S. Davis Cup captain Jim Courier said of Harrison, "He's still a raw tennis player. He still has a lot of upside potential. When I say he's a raw tennis player, I mean that as a compliment. He's 79 in the world with a lot of stuff to work on. He's got that attitude of being someone who wants to work hard and wants to get there and is impatient in some ways to get there. That's not a bad quality to have. Hopefully he'll break into the top 50 in the first half of the year and get himself into the Masters 1000s going forward." - Matt Cronin
