John McEnroe, 51, was forced to pull out of the ATP Champions Tour event in Bogota, Columbia with a groin injury.
McEnroe played through pain before falling 6-7 (2), 6-3 (11-9) to Yevgeny Kafelnikov, but said he couldn’t continue in the tournament.
McEnroe suffered the injury in Zurich a week earlier, but still flew back across the Atlantic. “I need to take a break from playing for a few weeks to stop it getting any worse,” said McEnroe.
