Offended by American tennis player Donald Young's expletive-laden rip on the USTA via Twitter, Patrick McEnroe responded with a pointed comeback of his own, saying the 21-year-old would need to apologize before the USTA did anything more to support him.
Young's curse-filled tweet came out Friday after he lost in the final of a tournament that determined who would receive the USTA's wild-card entry into the French Open.
McEnroe, the USTA's head of player development, said the tournament had been scheduled for weeks and Young didn't get any preferential treatment even though he was ranked in the top 100.
In a call with reporters Monday, McEnroe said he was offended by the posting on the Twitter account, which Young has since shut down.
