Golfer Rory McIlroy, who has missed cuts in four of his last six tournaments, says that his one-year-old relationship with former tennis No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki is not a distraction.

In May, while Wozniacki was playing at Roland Garros, McIlroy missed the cut at the European PGA Championship in Wentworth, England. "Half my body was in Wentworth and half was in Paris," he was said to admit.

Golfer Luke Donald told reporters that when he was 23 and had an attractive girlfriend, "I would take my eye off the ball sometimes, as well. You can't blame him."

McIlroy, who is playing in this week’s British Open, responded: "Obviously I'm aware of what's in the media. It's just a matter of not letting it get to you. I've always said that if I'm happy and content off the course, that's when I play my best golf…There’s never been any distractions."
