Russian Mikhail Youzhny, who advanced when American Mardy Fish retired with a sciatic nerve injury, will play Swede Robin Soderling, who bested Fernando Gonzalez 6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-2.

On the bottom half, Rafa Nadal, a 7-6 (5), 6-4 winner over fellow Spaniard David Ferrer, will face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who blasted Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-2, 6-2. American Andy Roddick, a 7-6 (4), 6-3 winner over Benjamin Becker, will play another Spaniard, Nicolas Almagro, who got by rising Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (3).
