NBC will broadcast the Roger Federer-Novak Djokovic French Open semifinal live online, the Wall Street Journalreports. NBC decided to offer the live stream after fans complained that its tape-delayed, three-hour broadcast would likely cause them to miss parts of the marquee matches. NBC will begin its TV coverage at 11 a.m. in all time zones, following the Today Show. Beginning the broadcast at that time all but guarantees that some fans will miss a big chunk of the live action, as play begins at 2 p.m. Paris time, which is 8 a.m. on the east coast and 5 a.m. on the west coast.
For the first time, Tennis Channel will broadcast a semifinal; it will show the Rafael Nadal-Andy Murray match, which begins at 8 a.m. ET. NBC will broadcast whichever match is on live when it begins its 11 a.m. coverage, but the second men’s semifinal between Federer and Djokovic can be seen in its entirety on NBCSports.com. Tennis Channel will show repeats of both matches after NBC's broadcast is over.
