Miami Open Moments: Final-Round Recap

Svetlana Kuznetsova had a great week, but the 30-year-old's time in the sun caught up with her in the final. She said that she felt "worked out."

Victoria Azarenka, who double faulted nine times, wasn't much better, or happier, in the early going.

But as she has for the last month, Azarenka...

...willed a winning game out of herself.

Azarenka beat Kuznetsova, 6-3, 6-2, in 77 minutes...

....and recorded the first women's double at Indian Wells and Miami since Kim Clijsters did it in 2005.

Azarenka made this the first tournament she has won three times.

"I love Miami," she said.

One of the locals was happy to get a selfie with her.

Nice glasses, Vika.

"I've put in the hard work," she said, "and the results are just great."

In the men's final, one player, and one group of fans, wasn't as pleased as the other.

From his serve to his ground strokes, Nishikori, who was playing in his second Masters final, was left searching.

One of his super-fans still believed.

Nishikori made progress in Miami...

...but once again, an injury, this time to his left leg, slowed him at the end.

The only thing that slowed Djokovic was a flock of pelicans that swooped over the stadium late in the match.

In the opening set, Djokovic won 60 percent of Nishikori's first-serve points.

Still, even the world No. 1 had his struggles; he was broken twice in the first set.

In the end, Djokovic had his sixth straight win over Nishikori. "All in all, I think it was the best performance of the tournament here for me."

Djokovic knows the rituals that come with winning in Miami.

This was his sixth title there, tying him with Andre Agassi for the most among men.

He's a fixture at Crandon Park. After the match, Djokovic said he had it on good authority that the event wouldn't, as rumored, be leaving Miami.

With the victory, Djokovic completed his third straight Indian Wells-Miami double, a record of remarkable consistency, if not outright domination.

Djokovic will be sneaking up on more remarkable records in the coming years.
