Once a mandatory stop on the ATP tour, Monte Carlo kicks off on Sunday with only five of the top 10 and 14 of the top 25 players.
Rafael Nadal, who has won the tournament on five occasions, leads the pack and is on a 27-match win streak there. Nadal, who hasn’t won a title in 11 months, will attempt to become the first player to win six straight titles in the Open Era. Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Fernando Verdasco and Marin Cilic are also in the field.—M.C.
