Andy Murray will try to win a third straight Canadian Open title when play opens in Montreal on Monday. Murray, who has still yet to win a major, could play 14th seed Stanislas Wawrinka in the third round, sixth seed Mardy Fish in the quarters and possibly No. 2 Rafael Nadal in the semis.
The Spaniard, along with new No.1 Novak Djokovic and No. 3 Roger Federer, return to competition for the first time since Wimbledon. Nadal could meet compatriot Fernando Verdasco in the third round and possibly seventh seed Tomas Berdych in the quarters.
Djokovic, who has been making the rounds on the American talk show circuit, could face former Top 5 player Nikolay Davydenko in the second round and 2009 U.S. Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro in the third round. No. 5 Gael Monfils is in Djokovic’s quarter and Federer, the only man to beat the top-seeded Serb this year, is his potential semifinal opponent.
Federer could play 15th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Aussie wildcard Bernard Tomic in the third round. Richard Gasquet and Nicolas Almagro are other seeded players in Federer's quarter.
