NEW YORK (AP) As the U.S. Open approaches, the tennis world is focusing on Novak Djokovic and his remarkable season, And rightly so, according to the man he replaced at No. 1, Rafael Nadal.

Nadal says he's most impressed by Djokovic's mental strength, week in and week out. Djokovic is 57-2 in 2011, and 5-0 against Nadal, including at Wimbledon last month.

Still, Nadal sees no reason why he can't win a second consecutive title at the U.S. Open, which starts Monday.

``Why not?'' he says.

Nadal burned two fingers on his right hand on a restaurant plate last week, but they're now fine. He says he's been playing well in practice, and as long as he's healthy he figures he can fare well in New York again this year.
