Rafael Nadal has announced that he is training for the ATP Masters 1000 indoor tournament in Paris, suggesting he is also likely to try to play the ATP Finals in London.

The Spaniard had been unsure whether he would play again this season since his recent win at Roland Garros. But he is set to get back on court in around two weeks at the Rolex Paris Masters, an event which, like the ATP Finals, he has not won in his career.

"It's indoor season time... getting ready for Paris-Bercy," said a message from Nadal, showing him hitting on an indoor court at the Rafael Nadal academy in Mallorca.

Nadal had also been asked about participating in next week's ATP 500 tournament at Vienna, but he has decided not to play. He has competed in just five events this season, choosing to concentrate on clay when the tour returned, and not playing the US Open.

Nadal, currently No. 2, will be in contention for the No. 1 ranking for this season if he can win both the Paris Masters and ATP Finals.

The announcement boosts the field for the Paris Masters, which had aimed to have 1,000 fans per session, the most allowed under current government restrictions on public gatherings. Since then, the city has also been placed under a 9 p.m. curfew, with the tournament announcing that its five night sessions will have no fans.
