While many women players have made news in the last year by becoming mothers (Kim Cljisters, Lindsay Davenport, Anastasia Myskina), Bahamian Mark Knowles also made headlines last week with the birth of his second child, Brody Mark.

He and his wife of four years, Dawn, welcomed the baby boy on Friday in Dallas, Texas, where they make their second home. They are already proud parents to another son, Graham, now two years of age.

The early birth came as a surprise to the Knowleses as Brody Mark arrived three weeks earlier than expected. The baby, however, was healthy, weighing in at 9 lbs, 6 oz and 21 ½ inches long.

"It's been a little stressful lately and if Dawn didn't have the baby early I don't know what I would have done," a relieved Knowles told the ATP. "The timing is truly a blessing. And first and foremost we're so happy to see our second son born."

After the birth the 37-year-old caught a flight to London to compete in his 17th Wimbledon Championships, with his wife’s blessing. He will return to the States after his campaign on grass, hoping to bring back the lone Grand Slam trophy that has eluded him in his illustrious doubles career.
