The New Lyons Park NJTL in Mobile, AL, has created a tennis program that not only incorporates on-court training, but also prides itself on its off-court activities and emphasis on parental involvement. Free math tutoring is provided for all and a math packet must be completed during the summer by each participant.

The program includes weekly presentations by various professionals on nutrition, drugs, the value of exercising and tolerance. The vast majority of children participate in the Arthur Ashe Essay and Art Contest and others have been selected to attend Tennis Leadership Camps and have gone on to receive tennis scholarships for college. There are 68 participants in the program.
