For all the "sleep is for the weak" chatter that comes out of the Australian Open, it's good to know that Aussies themselves will stay up for sporting events on the other side of the world that are near and dear to their hearts.

That's Nick Kyrgios, forever a Boston Celtics fan—he calls the team's never-used No. 74 jersey as his own in his Twitter bio—and a passionate pro-basketball follower.

But Kyrgios had begun campaigning (or had he?) in late 2016 to be a part of the NBA All-Star Game's companion celebrity shootout, saying he would skip the ATP stop in Rotterdam, Netherlands, so as to play b-ball stateside. Rosters for the affair were released and ... Kyrgios wasn't among the participants. (You will, however, get to see the likes of Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler and TV host/rapper Nick Cannon showing off their hardwood skills.)

Whether the mercurial Kyrgios didn't go through with plans to join the famous fray or simply wasn't selected remains the operative question. Deadspin had yet to hear back after reaching out to the NBA for comment. Meanwhile, Kyrgios, he who recently shook a Davis Cup stadium with his sneeze, sure hasn't shown in Rotterdam for that tournament.

So let's call this a week off for him and enjoy the flashback NBA All-Star Celeb performances of two of last year's guests in Toronto—the dunking Milos Raonic and an all-smiles Genie Bouchard.
