Nick Kyrgios says he should be fit for the Australian Open, despite a knee injury that appeared to affect him this week.

"It is not terrible, but it is not great," he told reporters at the Hopman Cup, where he played singles but withdrew from the mixed doubles. "I had an MRI this morning."

Kyrgios described the injury as a "bone issue," but said that a few days off the court would be sufficient.

"I should be back to normal," he said. "I’m not the type of guy who needs plenty of matches before events."
