Japan’s Kei Nishikori won his first match in over a year at the Baton Rouge Challenger with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Brendan Evans. Nishikori underwent right elbow surgery in August 2009 and missed most of last season. Considered Japan’s top male prospect, the 20-year-old reached of a career high ranking of No. 56 in February 2009.—M.C.
