What a difference a year makes. On April 7, 2015, Serena Williams joined Donald Trump for a friendly hit. Here's how it went down, with the future Republican front-runner for the U.S. presidency displaying some not-terrible tennis skills:

The occasion was the grand opening of Trump's Tennis Performance Center in Potomac Falls, Virginia. Literally dozens of denizens were on hand.

"She said it's the best facility that she's ever seen," Trump would later tell a TV interviewer in, well, true Trump fashion.

Serena helped with the ceremonial ribbon cutting before humoring the future quasi-politician's blonde ambition. Trump kicked off his shoes and took some free-swinging shots at a few harmless balls Serena fed him on court. A couple he hit back fairly well, and then there was one he sent flying sideways off the court. Perhaps it was all a microcosm of his personality and 2016 presidential campaign.

Bonus: That time then-mayor Bernie Sanders was caught on camera playing tennis in Burlington, Vermont. (He was elected in 1981 and won re-election thrice.)
