WIMBLEDON, England(AP) Philip Brook has been elected vice chairman of the All England Club and is now in line to succeed Tim Phillips when the Wimbledon chairman steps down in December 2010.
The 53-year-old Brook has been a member of the Wimbledon tournament committee since 1997 and a member of the All England Club since 1989. He was also captain of the Cambridge University tennis team in 1977.
Wimbledon said Friday that Phillips had been due to retire in December after 10 years as chairman but was asked to remain for another year to allow ``his successor to have one year as vice chairman.''
