The tennis fans of South Florida were out early to get a glimpse of Novak Djokovic's morning practice session.

Some were totally more famous than others.

David Goffin lines up a forehand. The Belgian was the day's first winner, over Horacio Zeballos; he reached his second straight Masters quarterfinal.

Zeballos's run as a lucky loser finally came to an end, but not before he collected a potentially season-changing number of dollars and ranking points. For that he can thank Roger Federer: The Argentine got into the draw when the Swiss pulled out sick.

Richard Gasquet shows his racquet to his opponent before he whips it around with his famous one-handed backhand.

Tomas Berdych can finally exhale after two hours and 27 minutes in the muggy midday weather. He beat Gasquet to set up a Wednesday night quarterfinal with Djokovic.

Darren Cahill came out to talk to Simona Halep, but the Romanian had her say as well.

Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia had a mini-breakthrough in Miami, beating Stan Wawrinka before losing to Nick Kyrgios on Tuesday.

Textbook strokes? Kyrgios doesn't need one to crush a forehand.

The Aussie won in straights to advance to the quarterfinals...

...and felt some love from the Grandstand crowd.

Timea Bacsinszky did whatever it took—chop, slice, dice, loft—to beat Halep in three sets.

Her reaction after match point said it all.

Djokovic beat Dominic Thiem in two sets, but he had to bend himself out of shape to do it.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the net, Thiem was wrapping his racquet around his neck on his forehand.

Djokovic said he could see that his young opponent was "very motivated to win." So was the world No. 1.

Gael Monfils took the stage in the late afternoon, and as usual he didn't disappoint.

He and Grigor Dimitrov ended the 10-hour day session with a shot-maker's showcase.

As he had in their three previous matches, Monfils came away the winner. Can you tell?
