The list of famous folks peppering the seats on Centre Court during Wimbledon 2012 turned decidedly royal today. The Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge, better known as Prince William and Kate, appeared at the All England Club to regard the men's quarterfinal matches betwixt Roger Federer and Mikhail Youzhny and then Andy Murray versus David Ferrer. Will and Kate were particularly amused by Youzhny's prolonged, exquisite yell during his futile effort to take a match from the arguable Greatest of All Time.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived on the heels of the heir to the British throne, William's father, Prince Charles, and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. Charles made his first visit to SW19 since 1970 last week.

Tennis royalty was on hand today as well, with Rod Laver, Andre Agassi, and Steffi Graf present. In an ultra-Wimby green-and-purple tie, Agassi looked debonair on the 20th anniversary of his own Wimbledon coup, rather unexpected in 1992. ("He learned how to play tennis," John McEnroe said on ESPN, after seeing the clip of a triumphant Agassi. "On grass, that is.")

Also on hand at Wimbledon in the past 11 days: Former NBA star Scottie Pippen (with wife Larsa); actor Dustin Hoffman; Kate's lovely sister Pippa Middleton; Potter author J. K. Rowling; model/actress Brooklyn Decker and NHL star Alex Ovechkin (standing by their significant others, Andy Roddick and Maria Kirilenko, respectively); musical muse Grace Jones; and golfing greats Jack Nicklaus and Ernie Els, themselves regulars at the AELTC. See photos of these famous faces and more at Wimbledon here and here. Not present: Disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding and comedic actor Will Ferrell, though McEnroe still found ways to refer to them during his Federer-Youzhny commentary.

Who have you been happiest to see alight in the Centre Court seats so far? Who do you think is glaringly missing?
