Facts: Solinco has created an ultra-lean version of its popular Tour Bite string. The 19 gauge string offers the same co-polyester composition of Tour Bite predecessors, and at 1.10 millimeters is the thinnest polyester Solinco makes. The brand cites its massive spin potential and versatility as assets, while still providing the control players require. Despite the thin gauge, Solinco says the Tour Bite 19 offers “better durability than one might expect.”
Impressions: Thin is in, and if you hit a heavy ball, the Tour Bite 19 may be your string of choice. This string is designed to grab the ball and give players with faster swings access to monster spin and explosiveness in an arm-friendly, edged polyester string.
Part of Solinco’s appeal is its ability to blend: Tour Bite 19 can be mixed effectively with gut or multifilament for a hybrid string set up offering plenty of rotation and comfort. Players who prefer to play full polyester may notice a slightly softer string bed. You must be able to generate spin—and own have a full, fast swing—to get the most from the Tour Bite 19 (don’t expect massive amounts of spin to pour from the package), but if you do, these strings live up to the Tour Bite series standards.
