NEW YORK (AP)—American Sam Querrey reached the third round of the U.S. Open for the third straight year with a straight-sets win over Marcel Granollers of Spain.
The 20th-seeded Querrey won 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 on Friday. He had 42 winners. Querrey is now 8-4 at Flushing Meadows in his career.
The 94th-ranked Granollers won a five-set match in the first round.
Querrey joins fellow Americans James Blake, Mardy Fish and John Isner in the men’s third round.
