After being upset by British wild card James Ward at Queen's Club, defending champion Sam Querrey will fall to around No. 40 in the rankings. It's highly unlikely he will be seeded at Wimbledon; the American began to the event ranked No. 26.
Former No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt also took a rankings dive, but a much greater one than Querrey. After losing to Philipp Kohlschreiber in Halle, the defending champion will fall to around No. 128 next week. While Hewitt will get straight into Wimbledon—the entry cutoff is based on rankings six weeks prior to the start of an event—he will need wild cards to get into some U.S. summer hard-court tournaments. Hewitt has already taken a wild card into Atlanta.
