NEW HAVEN, Conn.(AP) A steady rain has forced officials to juggle the schedule for the men's and women's semifinals at the Pilot Pen tennis tournament.
The first semifinal between Flavia Pennetta and Caroline Wozniacki, originally scheduled for noon on Friday, has been delayed until 4:30 p.m. at the earliest.
Officials hope they can get a large enough break in the weather to play all four matches Friday night. They have moved all the doubles matches to the indoor Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
The forecast for Saturday, when both the men's and women's finals are scheduled, calls for rain and heavy winds spawned by tropical storm Danny. That has led officials to remove the two large video scoreboards from atop the tennis stadium.
