Ahead of Canada’s World Group playoff against South Africa in Montreal, Milos Raonic tells the *Globe and Mail* that he hopes the Davis Cup will give a boost to his Top 10 aspirations. Raonic pointed to the recent examples of Spain’s Fernando Verdasco, who reached the semis of the Australian Open two months after helping his county win the 2008 Davis Cup, as well as Novak Djokovic, who after leading Serbia to the 2010 Davis Cup went on to win three Grand Slams in 2011.

“You look at Djokovic, going to No. 1, [Janko] Tipsarevic feeding off it. At one point, they had three guys in the Top 15. … When you can do these things and do them well, it gives you an intangible,” the 14th-ranked Raonic said.
