Milos Raonic has had left wrist surgery and will be sidelined for another few weeks.
Appearing in the commentary booth for ESPN, the Canadian said the surgery was relatively minor and did not affect "the structure" of his wrist. It simply removed some accumulation.
"It was just something I wanted to get taken care of," he said.
The injury affected him in Montreal and prompted him to withdraw from the US Open. He indicated that he wants to return in about a month.
"Hope it makes my backhand better,'' he joked. ''I could use that.''
The frequently-injured Raonic also pointed to the length of time between the Grand Slams as a potential reason for the recent spate of injuries among the top men, suggesting the big events should be packed together more tightly so players do not have to stop and start during the season.
Raonic is No. 11 in the rankings.
