Victoria Azarenka’s boyfriend, pop star Stefan “Redfoo” Gordy, describes his relationship with the world No. 2.
“I’m just really focused on being, like, the best cheerleader I can be,” he told the *New York Observer*. “Do I get nervous? No way, man. I’m just constantly thinking about what does she need to do to win and what can I do?”
Redfoo played tennis as a junior growing up in Southern California and this summer entered the U.S. Open National Playoffs; the winner of the tournament received a wild card into the qualifying draw. He lost in the first round, 6-1, 6-2.
Redfoo said it was Azarenka who wanted to meet him and that Tennis Channel CEO Ken Solomon introduced them.
“She said, ‘Hey, why don’t you come to my press conference?’ And I went to that. It’s on YouTube. You can see it. It was crazy, it was fun, and we just became friends. We were friends for a long time and then, err, she seduced me!”
Redfoo mixed Azarenka’s on-court grunting into his single, “Heart of a Champion.”
“I was making some stuff, I needed some new sounds, and I had an idea to put her grunt in there. Her grunt is actually perfectly in the key of F,” he said.
