Martina Hingis is considering taking a wild card into the mixed doubles at the 2012 Australian Open, the Herald Sun reports. The 31-year-old "is expected to make a return to Grand Slam competition with a view to chasing London Olympic gold with Swiss compatriot Roger Federer," the newspaper wrote.

Hingis and Federer have discussed teaming up at the 2012 Olympics, but in order to do so, Hingis would have to establish a WTA doubles ranking high enough to gain direct entry, as ITF rules state that mixed doubles entrants will only be chosen from players already on site in London.
