Mario Ancic has grabbed the first ATP win of his comeback, defeating Bobby Reynolds 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 Thursday in the first round of Indian Wells.
Ancic has been able to play only intermittently since getting mononucleosis in 2008. He returned to challenger play last month after almost a year off.
"Last year I didn't know if I was ever going to come back," said Ancic. "It's great to feel healthy and be able to do this."
Unsure about whether he would be able to continue his career, Ancic began working as a lawyer in Croatia during his time off but says he has finally been cleared to return to the Tour full time.
