In her first match since the Australian Open, France’s Aravane Rezai is crushed, 6-2, 6-1, by Alla Kudryavtseva in Monterrey. Rezai decided not to play since losing early in Australia as she was trying to sort out problems with her controversial father and coach, Arsalan, who was allegedly investigated by police for abusing his daughter in Melbourne. Aravane later denied there was a problem.

“I haven’t had any matches since Australia and it was hard to take the court again because some personal issues have kept me off the courts, and then it's hard to comeback," said Rezai, who is planning on playing Indian Wells and Miami. Rezai did not sign a coach in at Monterrey.—Matthew Cronin
