Robby Ginepri begins his stint as Davis Cup coach this week, assisting captain Jim Courier as the American team plays Serbia in the first round of the team competition.
A former Davis Cup player, Ginepri retired three years ago and set up his own academy before joining the USTA as a coach and then being named to the Davis Cup position. He is also currently working with Frances Tiafoe.
"There’s a real easy fit for him to come into this team," Courier was quoted as saying by the USTA website. "He’s been coaching now for several years.
"He also knows a lot of these guys—he’s friendly with them. He’s played in Davis Cup, so he understands the scenarios."
