SANTIAGO, Chile (AP)—Tommy Robredo beat Santiago Giraldo 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (5) on Sunday to win the Movistar Open clay-court tournament.

The sixth-seeded Robredo won his 10th ATP title after failing to reach a final last year.

“Ten is a very nice number and it feels good to lift the trophy again,” Robredo said.

The eighth-seeded Giraldo let the third set slip away after he led 5-2. The Colombian was playing in his first ATP final and has reached the quarterfinals or better in three tournaments this season.

The 28-year-old Robredo said he saw his opening late in the match.

“When he served at 5-3 in the third, he started being less aggressive and put the ball more in play which allowed me to play longer and get into the court again,” Robredo said. “He was hitting really hard until then and it was really tough to put my game together.”

Robredo also is off to a fast start this season. The Spaniard is 9-2 this year and advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open before losing to Roger Federer.
