As reported elsewhere on Tennis.com, Andy Roddick and James Blake will not play Davis Cup this year, starting with the U.S. Davis Cup tie in Serbia in March.
"It certainly appears to be the end of era," said Davis Cup Patrick McEnroe. "But the door will always remain open to both of those guys in the event they decide they want to play again."
Roddick, Blake and the doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan were the mainstays of the U.S. Davis Cup team in the second half of the 2000s, winning the competition in 2007.
Sam Querrey, John Isner and Mardy Fish are among the singles candidates being considered for the tie against Serbia, which will take place on clay the week before Indian Wells begins.
