Roddick, who has never won Indian Wells, has fallen behind Robin Soderling in the rankings but after two weeks of rest and rehab in at his home in Austin, feels ready to go.

“You come here and you try to win a tournament. I feel healthy; I feel fine,” said Roddick, who is in Roger Federer’s quarter. “There's definitely no crutch for me at this tournament. I expect to play well.”

Roddick has put his Austin home up for sale at the price of $4 million, $1.7 million more than he paid for it in 2003. He and his wife, the model Brooklyn Decker, are building a new home in the area.

Roddick joked that if that didn’t  work “We're actually thinking about buying an RV and touring the country.”
