Andy Roddick says that he is not in a slump and that his woes can be attributed to the injuries he sustained this year.

"I've read a lot and heard a lot about a slump, but this is my third event in six months or five months so it's tough to win when you haven't been playing," Roddick told reporters in Winston-Salem.

Former U.S. Open champion Roddick, who will be the 21st seed at the tournament when it begins next week, said that he is not feeling the effects of the abdominal muscle injury he suffered earlier this summer.

"I didn't even think about it,” said Roddick, who has not won a title since Memphis in February. “That's a good thing because I haven't felt it in five or six days. For me it's a matter of getting into a rhythm on points and I hadn't done that for awhile."
