Alexander Zverev and Ivan Lendl could be considering a player-coach partnership, according to media in Miami.
Lendl, who is based in Florida, was at the Miami Open and watched Zverev play at the tournament. There were suggestions by ESPN television commentators that Lendl is looking at joining Zverev's team.
Zverev, who is coached by his father, recently split with Juan Carlos Ferrero on what appeared to be a contentious terms. The 20-year-old cited a conflict following the Australian Open, saying that the former Grand Slam champion had been "very disrespectful" to his team. But Ferrero spoke in Spanish press of Zverev's unprofessionalism, which the player has denied.
There were also recent suggestions that the German could take on Boris Becker, who is the Head of Men's Tennis at the DTB (German Tennis Federation), but Zverev said that Becker will just be helping him in his official capacity.
Lendl has had two highly successful sessions with Andy Murray, guiding him to each of his three Grand Slam titles.
The world No. 5 has won two ATP Masters 1000 titles and just finished as a finalist in Miami, falling to John Isner. But he has yet to reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal, and is keen to improve his performances at the biggest events.
