BAKU, Azerbaijan (AP) Vera Zvonareva defeated Ukraine's Mariya Koryttseva 6-1, 6-2 on Saturday to reach the final of the Baku Cup.
The top-seeded Russian on Sunday will bid for her second title of the year against seventh-seeded Ksenia Pervak of Russia or unseeded Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan, who were playing later on Saturday.
Koryttseva had a dreadful start, winning just four points in the first five games, but she settled down and broke Zvonareva by forcing a forehand error.
The unseeded Ukrainian held four points for a potential 3-1 lead to start the second set before Zvonareva broke to level at 2-2.
Zvonareva reasserted control and reeled off the next four games.
