MELBOURNE, Australia(AP) Dinara Safina has advanced to the Australian Open final, beating fellow Russian Vera Zvonareva.
Safina beat Zvonareva 6-3, 7-6 (4) on Thursday in the match played indoors because of 111-degree temperatures outside.
She will play Serena Williams in Saturday night's final, when Williams will attempt to win her 10th Grand Slam singles title.
Safina, who lost to Ana Ivanovic in last year's French Open final, has never made it past the third round at the Australian Open.
