Withdrawing from Brisbane created doubts about her participation in the Australian Open, but Dinara Safina says she is now fully fit for Melbourne.
"I'm 100 per cent. I'm ready to play. If I play my best, let's see what can happen," she said ahead of playing next week's event in Sydney.
She has recently been dogged by knee and back troubles. "My goal this year is to stay healthy and if I can do that then hopefully the rest will fall into place."
The Slamless Safina spent much of last year struggling to justify her No. 1 ranking, and has now dropped to No. 2 as she continues to chase her first major. "Unfortunately I couldn't make it last year but I still have a few years ahead of me and I hope I'll get smarter as I get older," she said. "I'm pushing myself, so no one can push me any harder."
