“I’m retiring to spend more time with my family”?

Or I could do it the way Marin did today. When asked for an interview, he said he didn’t feel like talking.

7:30 P.M.

Nadal comes into the interview room and is asked about what he thought of last night's Hit for Haiti. He says, "I didn't understand nothing." As far as I can tell, he means it. And it was almost true of me as well. I've heard a little more of what Agassi said to Sampras last night on Tennis.com and YouTube, some of which I couldn't catch in the stadium. This morning I wrote that Andre hadn't meant to be malicious toward Pete, and it may not have started out that way. But it got nastier than I realized. Andre has an edge, we knew that, but it cut deeper into Sampras last night than I've heard it cut before. Either, like I wrote earlier, he got carried away with the act, or he just doesn't like Pete. Or both.

Because of that, we won't remember the Hit for Haiti as the positive event it that ultimately it was, which Agassi should feel badly about. But as one reporter said in the press room today, he and Sampras would make a hell of an exhibition road show.
