WATCH: Casper Ruud speaks with Tennis Channel following his Roland Garros fourth round win.

The bottom half of the draw has been getting second billing, but that hasn't been a problem for Casper Ruud and Holger Rune at the French Open.

The 23-year-old from Norway and the 19-year-old from Denmark, setting national records, are both into their first Grand Slam quarterfinals and now play each other in an all-Scandinavian quarterfinal.

Most of the attention though, is on the top-half clash between legends Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals, with the winner to play Alexander Zverev. But not being in the spotlight has allowed the others to concentrate more on their own games.

"Obviously now but even before the tournament, there was, of course, already a lot of talk who the favorite was,” said Ruud. “I think everyone was talking about the top half of the draw with Nadal, Djokovic, and Alcaraz of course there.

"There are many other good players in the tournament."

"Today I think I played some of my best tennis this year for the first two sets,” he added, referring to his 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over No. 12 seed Hubert Hurkacz.

"I think that's a perfect way [of] going into a quarterfinal for me."

Rune says fellow teen Carlos Alcaraz has earned his standing, defeating Djokovic and Nadal back to back to win Madrid following title victories in Rio de Janeiro, Miami and Barcelona. The 19-year-old Spaniard had been billed as a tournament favorite before going out in the quarterfinals to Zverev.

"I mean, he's been doing some incredible things, beating Novak, Rafa, all these guys," said Rune. "So, you know, for me it's not a problem."

But with wins against No. 14 seed Denis Shapovalov local favorite Hugo Gaston and No. 4 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas—along with a victory against No. 3 Alexander Zverev in Munich—Rune has also been moving up, and broke into the Top 40 before this tournament.

"I'm going at my own pace, at my own kind of way. It's great," he said. "If I play my tennis, I believe I'm capable of beating almost everybody on the tour. But also, I really have to be in the moment, because if not, everybody can also beat me.

“So it's really about just staying focused and focus mostly on the tennis."

The other quarterfinal in the bottom half is No. 20 Marin Cilic against No. 7 Andrey Rublev.

Ruud is No. 8 in the ATP rankings, and leads No. 40 Rune 3-0 in their head-to-head record. The pair will headline the Wednesday night session on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
