TORONTO(AP) Wimbledon champion Serena Williams will headline the women's field for the Rogers Cup tournament next month, along with top-ranked Dinara Safina.

The Aug. 15-23 tournament at the Rexall Centre will also include Venus Williams, who lost to her younger sister in the final at the All England Club last week.

All of the top 25 players on the WTA Tour and 33 of the top 35 will play in the $2 million tournament, including Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak, ranked 22nd.

She's the first Canadian to get a direct entry into the main draw since 1996.

Five former champions will be in the field: Safina (2008), Ana Ivanovic (2006), Kim Clijsters (2005), Amelie Mauresmo (2004, 2002) and Williams (2001).
