Serena Williams was voted the most popular female sports star by American fans, according to a Harris Interactive poll of 2,163 adults conducted in June.
It was the fourth time in the past five years that Serena has topped the poll, only being topped by racecar driver Danica Patrick in 2008. Serena finished ahead of her sister Venus, No. 3 Patrick, No. 4 Maria Sharapova, No. 5 Mia Hamm (a retired soccer player), No. 6 Anna Kournikova, No. 7 Martina Navratilova (who is tied with WNBA player Sue Bird), and beach volleyball player Kerry Walsh and golfer Michele Wie, who tied at No. 9.
