Maria Sharapova re-enters The top 10 for the first time since February 1, 2009 by besting Andrea Petkovic, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, in the Miami semis. The win avenged Petkovic’s shocking and quick upset of the Russian at the Australian Open, which the German celebrated wildly with her trademark "Petko Dance."
“More than anything, I sensed that she was tired—probably a lot of the dancing that she's been doing—and I took advantage of it," Sharapova said.
Petkovic is projected to break into the Top 20 for the first time and said she won’t do the dance anymore, but others may.
"Novak told me he was going to do it. I saw him in Indian Wells doing something like it, but it wasn't really the Petko Dance," Petkovic said. "I really hope he steps up his game. But the Petko Dance from Petko is retired. I don't know if any other players will try to involve it. I would be very happy to see it."—Matthew Cronin
