PERTH, Australia (AP)—Yaroslava Shvedova has withdrawn from the Kazakhstan team at the Hopman Cup after injuring her knee while playing Serbia’s Ana Ivanovic.

Shvedova had a scan Monday after Sunday’s match prompting her decision to withdraw. She will consult a specialist in Perth on Tuesday before making any decisions about future events.

The injury occurred toward the end of the first set of Shvedova’s match against Ivanovic, which she went on to lose 7-6(6), 6-1. The Kazakh had one of her best years on the WTA tour in 2010, reaching the French Open quarterfinals and winning the Wimbledon and US Open doubles titles with Vania King.

Shvedova will be replaced by Sesil Karatantcheva, who lost in the first round of qualifying for the Brisbane International.
