Juan Martin del Potro says he is releasing his coach, Sebastian Prieto—who will start working with fellow Argentine player Juan Ignacio Londero.

The 31-year-old del Potro has not competed since his 2019 knee surgery, which was to correct a broken kneecap he experienced at Shanghai in 2018.

I want to share that I have agreed with Sebastian Prieto to end our partnership, so that he can work with Juan Londero, while I continue my rehab process. I'm very thankful to Piper for all of these years together. He is a great a coach and even a better person. All the best!

Londero, who is from Cordoba, is in an area of Argentina that has received government approval to lift restrictions on activity.

"Tomorrow I'll be training for two weeks with Prieto and my physical trainer," Londero told *Telam*.

Since del Potro and Prieto began working together in 2017, del Potro won his first Masters title at Indian Wells, reached the finals of the US Open, and a career-high No. 3 ranking. The Argentine player, who previously won the 2009 US Open, has also had frequent injury issues.

Londero, 26, is ranked No. 62. Having played few tournaments, del Potro has dropped to No. 128 in the rankings.
